China Wall Trail Colorado

Posted by on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 (PST)

China Wall 4x4 trail a moderate short trail South of Jefferson and North of St. George.

China Wall Trail Colorado

China Wall is a short trail that is just North of Saint George. You take Tarryall Rd (county 77) 1 mile past 31 then take a left on Forest Road 212. The trail is a moderate trail with a couple interesting obstacles.

Addendum On New Years Day 2004 we found an alternate route into China Wall that has a couple nice obstacles. Forest road 204 connects to Tarryall Rd and 212. I have included bictures of this trail (Box Canyon) at the end of this write up.

The trail starts with a leisurely drive across a meadow and then climbs to the right up a hill and ends up on a ridge.

From the ridge you get the nicest view on the trail.

Then you hit a little obstacle that is fun to play on. That's Shawn bonsaing it.

Shortly after this is the bigest obstacle on the trail. This is Mark Leading the way.

And here is Dan right behind.

And here comes Rollie.

And along comes Shawn. The trail continues down to the river which was frozen. At this point we decided to turn around and exit the way we came.

On the way out Dan showing a little flex.

Overall this is a short but fun trail nothing extreme and bypasses for most obstacles. We did Lasalle Pass before this and where really disapointed in the trail. It could have been driven in two wheel drive and wasn't very scenic.

Alternative entrance through forest road 204 Box Canyon Trail. There are two good obstacles if you start or end China wall this way.

Here is Dan goinhg over the First obstacle

Here is the viesw of the big obstacle. Its actually pretty easy.

Dan shows it isn't that Hard

Mark follows right behind. Watch out for that big rock.

As you continue down 204 it connects to 212. At the intersection go east left to continue China Wall or right west to Tarryall road.
