Carnage Canyon Trail Colorado

Carnage Canyon 4x4 Jeep Trail October 23, 2004.

Carnage Canyon Trail Colorado

Carnage Canyon Boulder is a 4x4 trail that is only about 1.5 miles long but well worth the trip it is an 8 rated trail that will test your rocker protection. To get to the trail take Highway 36 north from Boulder until you come to Left Hand Canyon Road turn Left (West here) an follow the canyon west for about 3.5 miles. Carnage is the first obvious trailhead on your right (FS 286). Follow the trail straight back for Carnage. You can turn uphill to the left before Carnage Canyon if you would like to explore Left Hand Canyon which is much easier than Carnage Canyon.

Roy heading down the trail. The trail follows the canyon floor and as you can see is littered with large rocks.

Mark follows over some of the rocks.

Here is Dean going over the rock pile.

The rattler running the tail.

Roy squeezes through.

Mark follows without a problem.

Sam get's through with a couple of minor problems, rocks on the left remove his passenger side step and rocks on the right break the drivers side. Guess it's time to think about rock sliders.

Dean through the squeeze.

Rich through without a problem.

Rich moving across the rocks.

Dean on the rocks. There seems to be a pattern here.

Rich trying to go up the hard way.

Didn't quite make it so had to go around. Gave it a heck of a try though.

Dean wheeling through.

Still a few obstacles left.

Another washed out section to go through.

Rich showing a little flex.

Dean flexing it.

Just a few rocks left.

Just about the end.

This was Sam's step. His passenger side step is now on the inside of the Jeep. After airing up here we wandered back down and exited onto Left Hand Canyon Road. A fun trail with some big rocks. The only breakage was Sam's steps which have now been replaced with some real nice Warn rocker guards.

I also broke my side steps on my TJ. Took them off and threw them in the back. Trail was kind of rough for a stock TJ Sport.Had to be winched when high centered. Real fun trail.
