Lead King Basin Trail and Crystal Mill Trail Colorado
Crystal Mill Jeep trail and Lead King Basin Jeep trail are 6 rated trails. To get to the trail go through the town of Marble past the general store and follow the signs to Crystal Mill.
The trails in the area are primarily scenic rather that difficult and these are no exception. The day before we arrived Sherri had talked to the ranger and was told that Schofield was closed. This turned out to be untrue but there was a small slide that has made part of the trail somewhat unstable.

Here are the seven vehicles airing down at the beginning of the trail.

Here is Mark and Sherri going past one of the many waterfalls along the trip.

Here is Roy right behind.

Jeff and Kim rounding the bend with the waterfall behind.

Bob on the same path.

Mike rounding the bend.

Ryan and Joan taking in the scenery.

Dan and Rachel running tail gun.

We all stopped for a group picture at the Crystal Mill. This is one of the most famous pictures in Colorado.

The Crystal Mill power station. The picture says it all.

Ryan heads down the trail after leaving the mill you come to a fork in the trail where you take a left, right crosses a creek and dead ends in a small camping area.

Mark n Sherri start to head up Lead King. At the beginning of Lead King you come to another fork straight takes you to Crested Butte via Schofield Pass left up the mountain is Lead King Basin.

Bob cruising down the trail. The first part of Lead King Basin is the toughest part of the trail. There are no real obstacles just a rocky section that could cause a stock vehicle to here that sound that rocks make when they hit metal under your vehicle.

Here we are at Sherri's waterfall. This is Sherri's favorite trail.

The scenery is just spectacular.

Each picture better than the last.

At this time of the year the wild flowers are in bloom everywhere.

Wild white columbines on the mountainside

The views and the flowers where spectacular but the flowers didn't seem to be as good as years past.

Moving on down the trail.

Mark n Sherri do a little car washing before getting back to Marble.

Jeff and Kim follow.

Here's Mike washing his vehicle and everyone else just splashed behind.

Back to the camp with a view out the tent window.
This was a fun and scenic trip the four wheeling was easy but the scenery was outstanding.
