Posted by on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 (PST)

Metal Masher 4x4 off road Trail Moab May 2, 2004. Rated a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5.

Metal Masher Trail Moab Utah

Metal Masher Trail is reached by traveling 7.3 miles north on 191 and making a left through a parking lot where you see a sign that says Gemini Bridges. At the railroad tracks you can set your odometer to 0. Then follow the road past gooney bird rock which is at the 4 mile mark to a T at 4.7 miles and make a right up a steep hill. Go right at 5.1 and again at 5.3 at 6.1 Gemini bridges goes left go right. Make right turns again at 6.9 and 7.3 miles. AT 8.3 you cross a wash go straight. Go left at 8.8 miles on a rougher road 9.1 go left. At 10.3 go left over a slick rock slab and at 10.5 you will see Rock Chucker on the right. Most of the trail is well marked so look for the markers.

Well here we are at the trail head getting ready to start.

Dan and Rachel heading down the trail.

Roy, Rich and DJ get moving.

Bob and Patsy move along as tail gunners.

And then comes Rock Chucker a optional obstacle that is very large.

Gene decides to tackle it

And after considerable effort makes it to the top.

Mark decides to give it a try and makes it on the first rock.

Almost makes it up.

Gets a little tug and ends up on top.

The group continues on as Brittany Mark n Sherri's Springer Spaniel watches over Dan, Rachel and Roy through mirror gulch.

Roy moves on down the trail.

Rich the rattler and DJ following along.

Then we found a nice place to stop for lunch.

What a great view.

But the trail goes on and Gene leads the way.

Mark and Sherri follow behind.

Bob and Patsy go up the hill before the Widow Maker and watch out for the tire cutters on the right side of the trail.

Rich and DJ follow.

Gene at the Widow Maker.

Manpower not horsepower gets him over.

Mark tries but needs a tug.

Dan tries.

Roy gets a tug.

Bob stalls and his starter gives out. His starter gets pulled and a push start causes him to go around.

Everyone tried but all need tugs to get up.

Dan and Rachel negotiate a ledge on the way out.

Roy gets in a little play time at Mother In Law hill the last obstacle.
The weather was perfect, everyone had a good time and we all made it off the trail.
