Hell's Revenge Trail Moab Utah

Posted by on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 (PST)

Hell's Revenge On the rocks 4x4 off road trip report October, 2003

Hell's Revenge Moab Utah

Hell's Revenge Moab Utah On The Rocks, first official trip.  What a great place to plan a first patrol trip. We left on Friday October 24th and woke early on Saturday morning it was breezy and a little chilly but there was not a cloud in the sky. We decided to run Hells Revenge and Fins n Things trails. Hell’s Revenge has to be the premier slick rock trail in Moab. It is just east of town and is in the Sand Flats Recreation Area. There is a fee of five dollars to use the area and it is money well spent. Hells Revenge trail is just past the entrance.

It starts with an immediate climb up a narrow fin.

And winds through miles of slick rock.

The traction is unbelievable and climbs are made up walls of sandstone that you wouldn’t think possible.

And the obstacles the big hot tub which everyone did

And Mickey’s Hot Tub only Jeff did this one.

And Tip over challenge which all completed.

And Rubble trouble which all completed.

And the chute which all completed.

Since everyone wasn’t ready to quit yet we did the first half of Fins and Things before calling it a day and heading to Gene and Phyllis’s for a barbeque and relaxing conversation. (Thanks again Gene and Phyllis!!)  At the barbeque we decided if the weather in the morning was warm Gene would take his army truck (another story) across double whammy and we would do Poison Spider, Golden Spike and Gold Bar rim. If it started off cold (army truck has no windows) we would do Cliff Hanger.
